First day of Preschool

Monday Hudson had his first day of preschool at Dallas Center Grimes. He goes four days a week for 3 hours a day. We had been talking about it for a while and had the teacher visit last Friday which helped a ton. Sunday night Hudson picked out his clothes and was super excited for school. Monday morning Bernie, I and the girls all took him to his classroom and Hudson did awesome. Of course the classroom has a ton of cool things which helped but we all said our good byes and good lucks with no tears. I think that fact that Hudson did so good made it so much easier on mom. I worked from home Monday morning so I was able to pick him up which I admit I was super excited for. He had so much to say about his first day and loved telling me everything he did. The biggest thing he was proud of is that he peeled his own banana at snack time and of course that he colored and played outside. Bernie and I were so happy to hear that his first day was such a huge success. Today also went well as the routine changed a bit as they are slowly easing into the regular process, but the girls and I took Hudson to school and instead of going to the classroom met his teacher at the coat closet to hang his bag and then sit on the bench with the other kids until all the kids arrived. Again, it was a successful morning, I thought, but come to find out after the girls and I left he got sad sitting on the bench, missed mommy and cried a little. He said his teacher gave him a hug and everything was okay. We are so very proud of Hudson and how he has adjusted to so many new changes that a couple tears is definitely okay. He is at a new place, with new people, and without his sisters and his parents. He continues to be super excited about his day which makes us very happy. Each day after preschool we pick Hudson up and take him to daycare where he spends the rest of the day with the girls. Paisley does wish that she could go to school with Hudson, yet I don't think she realizes that if she went to school she wouldn't be with Hudson, yet in her own class. I do think seeing Hudson go to school will make her even more excited to go next year.
