Heidgerken Valentines

We had a great Valentines and I speak for Bernie and I  when I say we are both very thankful for our little Valentines and each other. The day was typical as the kids were excited to wear their Valentine's Day pajamas to daycare and take their treats to their friends. For treats we made popcorn with almond bark over it with m & m's in baggies for each of the kids at daycare. The kids had fun making it has we used our popper to make the real popcorn and then when ready they helped put them in bags. Over the weekend the kids also made Valentine's for their grandparents as I stole another idea from Pinterest. They used finger paint to paint a shape of a heart with their finger prints. Around the heart we wrote things associated with them being their grandparents and about Valentine's Day. I should have taken pictures, but unfortunately I didn't, sorry.

After work and daycare we picked up the kids and took them to get hair cuts by our friend Kat. Our kids go to daycare together and Kat and her husband work at Wells Fargo, workout in the gym and have become good friends of ours. Plus our kids love each other! Hudson, Paisley and Kat's two kids all got hair cuts before we treated ourselves to McDonald's for dinner. We figured with everywhere being busy McDonald's sounded like a logical place to go as the kids could play in the play area and we could relax. The kids had a blast and it was nice to catch up with Scott and Kat. Following dinner we headed home where the kids gave Bernie his gift and we exchanged cards. The kids gave him a hand made booklet of 23 reasons why they loved him. I sat down with the kids one night and asked them why they loved daddy. It was really cute to hear their reasons and to actually quote them in the book for Bernie to read. Bernie loved the gift and the kids were really excited to give it to him. The night ended with watching a movie with the kids and relaxing - in other words Bernie and I both asleep by 9:00 because we were exhausted from the day/week.

I would have to say Valentine's Day now is a lot different from 9 years ago when Bernie and I had of first official date. Little did we know that 9 years later we would be happily married with 3 beautiful children. We love each other more today then we did 9 years ago and are forever grateful for each other. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you from the Heidgerkens
