Father's Day Weekend

Last Friday night we went back to Glidden as we had a baby shower planned Saturday morning for my sister-in-law Allison. So, Friday night when we got back we enjoyed an evening at my parents with everyone. The kids were crazy excited to spend time with their cousins to say the least. They never run out of energy when they are around each other that's for sure.

Saturday morning we got ready for the baby shower which went very well and Allison got some great gifts. It was also nice seeing family. The babies gender is unknown which makes it very exciting in my eyes, but then again we are probably a unique case considering we didn't find out the gender with either of the three kids. But we and they have loved it this way. Allison is due July 22, so we will wait and see if he/she makes their debut sooner than later. We are very eager to meet our new niece or nephew.

Following the shower we had plans go to to the pool with Cody and Jill's kids and then celebrate all of the neices & nephews birthdays Saturday night, but unfortunately the girls got the flu on Friday night so Caden was the only one able to go to the pool with us and the birthday party was rescheduled. I so wish the kids could have had their party and joined us at the pool as I think all kids were bummed out, but the girls getting better was more important so they can enjoy their day when rescheduled.

After the pool we headed back to my parents for dinner before coming back to Des Moines. We got back to Des Moines at a decent time so the kids played a bit before baths and bed. They were sure wiped out though from all the excitement at Grandma and Grandpa's and seeing aunts, uncles and cousins.

Father's Day........was spent relaxing with the kids around home. In the morning we got the water table and pool out for the kids to enjoy before the day go too hot. The love playing in the water to say the least. We then grilled lunch before putting the kids down for a much needed nap (Bernie got a new grill last year so this year his gift was a grill cover). While the kids napped Bernie and I just chilled out and enjoyed the day. We got some little things done here and there but we had nothing pressing on our agenda. We did order dinner from Fat Boys in Grimes and then took the kids to the park near our house. By that time the day was over and it was time to wind down and get ready for another week ahead.
 Stopping for a quick picture
