First lets start with Christmas. The weekend before Christmas we headed to the Quad Cities to celebrate with the Heidgerkens. We enjoyed an awesome Christmas with Bernie's whole family and were spoiled again. My mother in law does an amazing job with Christmas and all the kids love it. So, a big thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Heidgerken for such a special Christmas. Following Christmas with Bernie's immediate family we went to the Carsten's Christmas at his aunts house. We had a great meal and got a special visit from Santa. Hudson was eager to sit on his lap and get his gift but the girls were a different story so mom got the pleasure of sitting on Santa's lap with the girls to get their gifts. They were pretty excited to see Santa and of course get a cool present. Following dinner and Santa everyone went bowling. It was fun to bowl with Bernie's family and of course the kids loved it too. The next day (Christmas Eve) we headed back to Des Moines to celebrate our own Christmas

We got back to Des Moines Christmas Eve in time to relax a bit at home before heading to Christmas Eve Service. The service was amazing at HOPE as it is every year! Following church we ordered pizza and headed home for a relaxing Christmas Eve. We enjoyed pizza and let the kids open new pajamas and one special gift from Bernie and I. They spent the whole night playing with their gift before we got ready for Santa.

The kids woke Christmas morning to the excitement of all the gifts that were under the tree. They spent the majority of the morning opening gifts and spent the rest of the day relaxing and playing. This was the first year we did not travel on the holiday and spent the whole day at home - so it was nice a relaxing. Yes, it was different not traveling and being with family but on the other hand it was nice to spend the day in our pajamas and just let the kids play.

Bernie had the rest of the week off, yet I ended up working which is one of the reasons we did not travel for the holiday. Bernie spent the remaining of the week with the kids and doing stuff around the house. The weekend following Christmas we went to Glidden to have Christmas with my family. The kids had a blast seeing everyone and again we all got spoiled. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Wenck for the special day and gifts.

We are so luck to have such great families to spend the holidays with. We are very thankful for everything! We hope everyone had a great Christmas too!
