The Heidgerken Family: Vacation Trip #2

Following the visit with my cousins we made the 2 hour car trip to Sedona, Arizona to get ready for the wedding festivities as Bernie was set to be groomsman in his high school buddy Andy's wedding. Friday night we went to a Mexican restaurant for the rehearsal dinner which had great food. It was also nice to meet the rest of the wedding party and of course see Andy and Jan. Bernie, myself and the kids were exhausted so after the rehearsal dinner we all crashed for the night. Due to everyone adjusting to the time change the kids were up bright and early at 4:30 am Arizona time which was technically 6:30 am Iowa time. Since we were up so early we headed out for breakfast and a stop at the park to let the kids play. Following the park we headed to Red Rock State Park for some site seeing and some pictures and then went to a look out point and did a little hiking and took more pictures. It was entertaining as throughout the trip and time in Arizona Hudson would compare so many of the things he saw to the "Cars" movie like the cactus, scenery, etc. It really did seem like it when he pointed it out. After our little hiking trip the kids were ready to go back to hotel for some swimming. So we spent the afternoon relaxing before naps. Bernie didn't have to be to the wedding site until 4:00 pm so it was nice he was able to spend the day with us. Following naps we headed to the Resort for the wedding which was absolutely beautiful. The scenery, bride and groom, wedding party, resort, everything was stunning. The ceremony was short and sweet followed by dinner and reception. The kids had a great time dancing as always! Following the rehersal we headed back to the hotel for some rest before our 5:00 am departure from Sedona back to Phoenix to catch a 9:30 am flight to California.
