Ear Surgery #3
Monday, July 23rd I had another ear surgery. After my surgery in November and things going well for the short term I ended up getting another staff infection in my ear. With the ongoing problems I was referred to an "ear" only specialist to see where we can go next. After treating me for the staff and getting another CT scan it was concluded that my Eustachian tube doesn't function in my one ear and there are areas on the ear drum to be repair in hopes to eliminate the infections I have been getting. After a couple months of treatment to see how the ear functions and heals it was recommended that I get a permanent tube placed in my ear to serve as the function of my Eustachian tube and then to take cartilage from the inside of my ear to repair the damaged areas on my ear drum. Bernie and I decided it would be best to follow through with the surgery sooner than later due to my ear being in good condition at the moment, so this then leads us to the surgery I had last Monday....a tempanoplasty with a permenent tube insertion. It was about a 2 hour surgery and this time it took me a little longer to come out of anesthesia but all in all it went great. I was pretty wore out all last week and back to feeling some what normal this week. I have restrictions in regards to working out so I have been having to be pretty cautious at work, yetI do have to admit that I am ready to get back to it soon. I re-visit the doctor on the 10th so hopefully we will get good news that the surgery was successful able to eliminate the continuous problems I have been having.
