Olympics, Heidgerkens & Wedding

This past Friday night we had a get together with some neighbors to celebrate the Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. It was decided that we would bring something to share for food that was symbolic of the USA. So, the Heidgerkens brought popcorn balls individually colored in red, white and blue. They were a hit! The get together was fun as always as we are continuously thankful of having such great social neighborhood.

Saturday morning we drove to the Quad Cities as Bernie's cousin was getting married. We hung out when we arrived before Bernie and his family attended the wedding while the kids and I stayed back. The wedding was after mass and after the wedding was a family baptism so I figured instead of struggling with the kids we would stay at the house and hang out and arrive after everything was complete. The kids did great during dinner and loved the reception as they are all dancing machines. Tenley this time was the one who wanted to dance all night long and not dancing where mom or dad held her, but the dancing that she held her hand and shaked her bootie. It was adorable and everyone had a great time.

Sunday we spent the day hanging out with Bernie's family before we came back to DSM. On our way back to DSM we did stop in Grinnell and see my brother at Pizza Ranch. While we were there of course we enjoyed some food before finishing the drive home. Sunday night was spent relaxing and doing things around the house getting ready for a very busy week.
