Mexico

The week of Labor Day Bernie's sister Chantel had a wedding ceremony in Mexico. So all the Heidgerkens traveled to Playa Del Carmen for a week and had a beautiful, relaxing and fun vacation. The kids love flying which makes our lives as parents easier and of course the flights more enjoyable for all. I do have to say the kids were troopers as our flight out of DSM was at 6:00 am and when flying home we had to get on the shuttle to the airport at 4:10 am.

We landed in Cancun on Monday and got our shuttle to our resort in time to enjoy the afternoon checking out the resort followed by a nice dinner with Bernie's family. Our room was awesome as right outside out door we had a pool and hot tub which was PERFECT to say the least for the kids. Actually we probably spent a majority of our time there.

It did rain the first couple days of the week but cleared up for us to still enjoy the day. Tuesday we did visit 5th Ave for some shopping before the rehearsal and dinner that night which was fun.

Wednesday was the wedding so we spent the morning relaxing and naps in before the ceremony, dinner and reception. Hudson was the ring bearer and looked handsome and Bernie officiated the service and did an awesome job. It was special having them both a part of Chantel's special day. And to make the day more special right before the ceremony Hudson lost his first tooth.

Most of our days were spent having breakfast, heading to the beach followed by lunch and pool time, then naps, more pool time, dinner and again more pool time. Each evening we had reservations for dinner with all of the guest at the resort for the wedding which was nice to get away from the buffet eating and enjoy some good food.

We had a great time in Mexico with the Heidgerkens as it was much needed family/relaxation time. Nothing is better then the sun, sand and beach that's for sure. We are now gearing up to celebrate Chantel and Rich's marriage back in Iowa the end of the month.
